October 12, 2017, the Kingdom of Lesotho – The Deputy Prime Minister of Kingdom of Lesotho,
Honorable Mr. Monyane Moleleki welcomed a high-level meeting with upper chamber of the
Government of Kingdom of Lesotho and representatives of Central Asia Group (CAG) on development
perspectives of two strategic sectors of the country, such as agriculture and energy.
The Minister of Development Planning, Mr. Tlohelang Aumane, Deputy Director of Energy, Mr.
Mokhethi Seitlheko and Director of Livestock Services, Mr. Molapo Hlasoa praised the successful results
of piloted agriculture projects conducted by CAG in 2005-2009 and voiced their support in new
commercial development perspectives as a next phase, presented by Mr. Tan Lin Chung and Mr. Victor
Degouveia, CAG delegation.
In addition, Mr. Tefo David Chele and Ms. Selle Mosalane, two scientists of the Kingdom Lesotho, who
attended Cotton Cultivation program in Tajikistan, expressed their high appreciation for valuable
support by CAG and articulated their readiness to commit their knowledge and experience towards new
programs.
As noted during the meeting, the energy sector, along the agriculture, needs similar innovations and
thus, the appointing of CAG as consultant and operator in both new agriculture and energy projects,
would be only of advantage and progress of those development platforms.
At the meeting, the attendees also touched upon the practical aspects of new concept ideas in view of
assuring a result oriented , mid- , and long term perspective flexibly combined implementation
approach. Particularly, it was agreed on establishment of working committee for deliberated planning
and systematic executing of future activities.
“We are optimistic about the existing agricultural conditions and potential of energy sector in Lesotho
Kingdom, which will allow us to kick off reasonable dimensions by quality use of respective scientific and
managerial approaches”, – emphasized Mr. Tan Lin Chung.
