From 2007 to 2009, South Africa and Tajikistan partnered together in exchange of their expertise in cotton cultivation. The project consisted of Tajikistan scientists working along with of South African colleagues in introducing new cotton variety.
Tajikistan scientist Dr. Vakhidov Ochilboy conducted the trials in cooperation with Cottage Alliance Group and South African organization National Cotton Cultivar supported field operations.
The trials were conducted across various regions of South Africa. Dry land and irrigation trials were conducted in the cities of Loskop, Mokopane, Makhathini, Rustenburg, Upington, Vaalharts and Weipe.
This particular project is a perfect example of the bilateral communication and cooperation that exists between these two seemingly different nations.
